Recently, the China's first urban C-type EMU developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles made its official debut in Shanghai. The train has earned acclaim for its stunning looks, top-notch safety, luxurious comfort, and cutting-edge intelligence.

According to report, this train represents the first domestically produced C-type EMU designed for urban transit, achieving speeds of up to 160 kilometers per hour. Built on the technology foundation of the pioneering Fuxing EMU, the train has undergone significant innovations in industrial design, safety and comfort, and vehicular intelligence to cater to the specific needs of public transportation operations. This novel integration of high-speed rail technology with urban rail transit applications is a game changer in the industry.

The train exudes modernity with its sleek and streamlined design. The combination of blue and white color palette gives it a lively and fresh look, radiating a sense of dynamism. Notably, the train's design incorporates Shanghai's regional symbols, establishing a unique identity for the vehicle and making it highly distinguishable. The body structure of the train follows the Fuxing EMU platform, incorporating superior impact resistance that exceeds industry standards. The vehicle's entire design meets collision safety requirements even at speeds as high as 25 kilometers per hour. In order to meet the needs of public transportation operations, the actual carrying capacity of the vehicle reaches 8 people per square meter. Furthermore, the dynamic performance indicators of the train are able to reach the excellent level. The train is equipped with an automatic return function in automatic driving mode - a first among domestic urban EMUs. It also boasts an intelligent passenger service system, providing services such as smart lighting and passenger number calculation. Additionally, the train is safeguarded through the use of big data technologies under an intelligent operation and maintenance system.

It is reported that the urban C-type EMU will be used for the Shanghai Airport Link, as an east-west backbone route in Shanghai's urban network, to connect "two airports" - Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport and Shanghai Pudong International Airport, "two stations" - Hongqiao Railway Station and Shanghai East Railway Station, as well as key areas in between and along the main urban area such as Zhangjiang High-tech Park and Disney International Tourism Resort. After the train is put into operation, it will greatly improve travel efficiency and better meet the high-quality travel needs of local residents and tourists.
