The 12th Jilin (Changchun) Winter Agriculture Expo (hereinafter referred to as the Winter Agriculture Expo) was grandly opened on January 20, 2022. The Changchun Agri-Expo Park was also reopened to the public on the same day. The organizing committee says the event will be suspended on January 31 but last until February 7.

In line with the theme “branded, green, healthy and harmony”, the combination of green agriculture, ice and snow tourism and culture of traditional Chinese New Year will be highlighted this year. Under the concept of “developing green agriculture, building healthy brands, driving product trading and disseminating culture of traditional Chinese New Year”, the event is said to be organized over an area of 200,000 square meters, covering five exhibition sections outside the park for protected agriculture, sightseeing, scientific research, animals and spring festival necessities.

Inside the park there is an intelligent greenhouse area totaling 60,000 square meters for the exhibition of hi-tech soilless cultivation, large-scale soilless cultivation, substrate cultivation, tropical fruit trees, fresh flowers, desert botanical and plant factory. The fresh cut flower garden is expected to become a new focus of public attention.

More than 80 flower varieties are under exhibition inside the fresh cut flower garden featuring planting techniques and modes of common fresh cut flowers such as lily, rosa chinensis, gerbera, chrysanthemum, etc. There are four large exhibition landscapes and more than 10 small and medium-sized ones.

In addition, a number of science popularization, culture and entertainment activities will be organized during the exposition. At the outdoor area, snow slide, plow pulling and other facilities have been made available, and meanwhile such cultural and artistic performances as rural folk dance, singing and dancing, opera will be staged. Insiders say that online pre-sale of self-produced fresh vegetables have been started. The public can also join the Winter Expo as virtual visitors and enjoy shopping necessities for the forthcoming Spring Festival online.
