Zhang Zhijun, Mayor of Changchun City, met the delegation led by Consul General Katae Takashi of Japan in Shenyang on December 21, 2020. The two sides reached consensus on strengthening economic and trade and people-to-people exchanges and thus promoting the cooperation between Changchun and Japan to a new level.

During the meeting, Zhang Zhijun, on behalf of the People’s Government of Changchun City, congratulated Katae Takashi on his new post of consul general in Shenyang, and expressed his welcome and thanks to Katae Takashi’s visit to Changchun City. Following a brief introduction to basic facts of Changchun City, Zhang Zhijun said: “With close contacts and profound friendship, Changchun and Japan enjoy a broad space for cooperation. Since earlier this year, Changchun has made an all-out effort to promote epidemic prevention and control and resumption of work and production due to which we have made remarkable results and realized rapid socioeconomic development, which in turn has brought about a broad space for future development. I would like your consul general to pay more attention to the development of our city, help publicize especially attract more Japanese enterprises to integrate into the construction of the ‘four major plates’ including Changchun International Automobile City and Changchun International Film Town, and further strengthen cooperation in such aspects as ice and snow economy, agricultural modernization, TCM, culture, sport and exchanges among young people. Changchun is willing to work with Japan to build a sound opening up and cooperation platform, facilitate pragmatic cooperation, and thus promote our friendship, exchanges and cooperation up to a new level.”

“Changchun enjoys a broad prospect for economic development. The Consulate General of Japan in Shenyang will continue to promote the cooperation and exchanges between Japan and Changchun, and thus make more contributions to economic prosperity and social development,” said Katae Takashi.

Among the officials invited to the meeting also included Jia Lina, Deputy Mayor of Changchun City.
