Expand International Cooperation and Exchanges, Strengthen Friendship for Win-win Results—Leader Meets Delegation of Consulate General of ROK to Shenyang

Leader of the Standing Committee of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, Secretary General of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and Secretary of the Party Working Committee of the China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, met with the delegation led by the consul general of ROK to Shenyang on August 13, 2020.

At the meeting, leader on behalf of Wang Kai, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, expressed his gratitude to the consul general for his long-term care and support for Changchun City, and introduced the socioeconomic development of the city, the basic facts and future goal for the development of the China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone.

“Under the correct leadership of the Party Central Committee, the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and the People’s Government of Jilin Province, Changchun’s socioeconomic development has been moving forward steadily against the trend of recession. In the first half of this year, the industrial added value and the growth rate of GDP of the city ranked among the top of the sub-provincial cities. In particular, the approval of the China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone has added a new momentum to the construction of a modern metropolitan area in the city. The approved area of the demonstration zone is 210 square kilometers, which is situated in the northeastern part of the city, a region among Longjia Airport, Land Port and Comprehensive Bonded Area with obvious geographical advantages, complete infrastructure and beautiful ecological surroundings. In the future, the demonstration zone will highlight industry-based construction, actively usher in technologies, talents, enterprises and other resources and advanced development mode from ROK and other countries in Northeast Asia, and build an international new area for industry-city integration with importance attached to the development of advanced equipment and intelligent manufacturing, medicine and medical treatment, health food, photoelectric information. For the next three to five years, efforts will be put into achieving the following goals, that is, to create a size of RMB100 billion for industries, to invest RMB100 billion, to increase the GDP to RMB10 billion, to have 100 major projects invested with more than RMB1 billion each settled, and to promote the financial revenue up to the level of RMB1billion. It is hoped that your consul general will show more of your care for the city, focus on the construction of the demonstration zone, expand international exchanges and cooperation, promote mutual understanding, strengthen friendship, jointly benefit the people of all countries and meanwhile help facilitate the revitalization and development of Changchun City,” said the leader.

Also on the afternoon of the same day, the representatives of consulate generals of ROK and Australia visited the demonstration zone, exhibition center, industrial innovation center, JD Asia-1 and Hengda’s cultural tourism town and other projects. The delegations fully affirmed the start of the construction of the demonstration zone.

After the visit, the delegations attended the symposium organized by the administrative committee of the demonstration zone. The symposium is of great significance to strengthening exchanges and cooperation between China and ROK, China and Australia, and accelerating the construction of the demonstration zone. The delegations indicated that close communications would be maintained with the demonstration zone to further expand the scope of exchanges and cooperation in the future.
