The year of 2020 is around the corner. The “Changchun 2020 New Year Concert”, sponsored by the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee and the People’s Government of Changchun City, and organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, Changchun Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, and Changchun Film Studio Group, was held at the Concert Hall of Changchun Film Studio Group on December 27, 2019. The Orchestra of Changchun Film Studio, together with its counterpart, Royal Orchestra of Vienna, staged a gorgeous feast of western classic music and folk Chinese music for more than 600 people. 

The concert was kick-started with the jubilant music of “Carmen Overture” under the direction by the founder and famous European conductor of Royal Orchestra of Vienna, followed by such repertoires as “Spring Festival Prelude” and “Good News about Beijing to the Frontier Village”, “Red Detachment of Women” and “My Motherland and I”, Intermezzo  “Pagliacci”,  Overture “Le Nozze di Figaro”, “An der schönen blauen Donau”, and “Tritsch-Tratsch, Polka Schnell” in an auspicious, festive atmosphere of farewell to the old and welcome to the new year.  

The concert was climaxed with the song by a soprano singer of China National Opera and Dance Drama Theater, which depicts the beautiful natural scenery and unique local customs of Changchun City, expresses the love and prospective vision of 7.5 million local citizens, and shows the heartfelt welcome of Changchun City with a new attitude of continuous development for the visitors from all around the world.  

Several famous singers who came all the way from Europe also brought about superb artistic enjoyment for the audience with “Barber of Seville”, “Mon Coeur S'ouvre A Ta Voix”, “Habanera” and “Silent Lips”. The Chinese song “Ah, Land of China” performed by the guest won waves of cheers and applauses from the audience. 

The concert ended with a success by “My Sun” from Wang Kai, a young tenor singer, and “Brindisi” jointly by Wang and a famous singer from Europe to express their sincerest wishes to the citizens of Changchun City.
