Photo Exhibition for the 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-US Diplomatic Relations Held in Changchun City

The opening ceremony of Photo Exhibition “Past to Future, 40th Anniversary of the Establishment of China-US Diplomatic Relations” was officially held with the efforts of the Foreign Affairs Office of the People’s Government of Changchun City, the Consulate General of the United States in Shenyang and the Changchun Library Wednesday morning on August 28, 2019. The representatives of the Consulate General of the United States in Shenyang including Consul General Nancy Abella, Cultural Consul Clark as well as government officials including Deputy Director General Li Jianhua of the Foreign Affairs Office of Jilin Province and Director General Qi Guohua of the Foreign Affairs Office of Changchun City were invited to the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

 

This year marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States, and the 25th anniversary of the establishment of international friendship city relationship between Changchun City and its counterpart Little Rock in the United States. The exhibition, which was organized in collaboration with the Consulate General of the United States in Shenyang, is meant to further deepen the cooperation and exchanges with the friendship city in the United States, expand the popularity of Changchun City, provide a chance for the citizens in Changchun City to review the history and for the friends at home and abroad to have a more thorough understanding about the historical experience of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the United States. It also serves to enrich the cultural life of foreign friends in Changchun City, cultivate nongovernment enthusiasts of international exchanges, guide the public to actively participate in the cause of international friendship, and create a sound atmosphere for the construction of a soft environment for investment attraction.

 

The exhibition lasts three weeks, covering seven parts, namely, politics, commerce, sport, tourism, education, cuisine and art. The most typical photos from President Nixon’s visit to China in 1972 to those precious ones about Deng Xiaoping’s visit to the United States reflect from different aspects the history of China-US relations. Each and every photo represents the mutual respect and friendly exchanges in different cultural and ideological backgrounds between the two countries, and also interprets the profound friendship among the people of the two countries over the past 40 years. The venue at Changchun Library is open for free to all the citizens and foreign friends in Changchun City.
