The First China-South Korea Exchange Meeting on Practical Economic Cooperation Held in Changchun

To further deepen practical economic exchanges and cooperation between China and South Korea, and to better transform the consensus of the China-South Korea Economic Ministerial Meeting into practical results, the National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC) and the Ministry of Economy and Finance of South Korea have established a mechanism for the China-South Korea Exchange Meeting on Practical Economic Cooperation under the mechanism for the China-South Korea Economic Ministerial Meeting. On the morning of November 14, the first China-South Korea Exchange Meeting on Practical Economic Cooperation was successfully held in Changchun, Jilin. Li Guoqiang, Deputy Governor of Jilin Province, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Guo Rui, Deputy Director General of the International Department of the NDRC, Min Gengxie, Director General of the Foreign Economic Cooperation Bureau of the Ministry of Economy and Finance of South Korea, and Liu Fugen, Economic Minister of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in China, participated in the event and delivered speeches.

The Chinese side stated that both sides should take the consensus reached by the top leaders from the two countries as a guide to continuously strengthen the coordination of development strategies, while actively participating in the comprehensive revitalization of Northeast China and constantly consolidating and enhancing the resilience and stickiness of industrial and supply chains of both sides with high-quality integrated development. The Chinese side also emphasized the importance of deepening and expanding cooperation in high-end manufacturing, digital economy, and green and low-carbon fields to nurture new momentum for economic and trade cooperation, accelerate the formation of new productive forces, and jointly share new development opportunities.

The South Korean side said that the Meeting served as an important way to promote bilateral practical cooperation in industries, and expressed the hope that both sides could make full use of this communication platform to further expand personnel exchanges, deepen economic and trade cooperation, and explore new industrial cooperation models together for more practical cooperation results while building secure and stable industrial and supply chains to jointly promote the sound and stable development of the China-South Korea strategic cooperative partnership.

At the Meeting, officials from the Department of Foreign Capital and Overseas Investment, Department of Regional Revitalization, and Department of Industry Development of the NDRC focused on the situation of China's efforts to promote high-level opening-up, the general thought and policies and measures for revitalizing old industrial cities and resource-based cities, and the current status and development opportunities of China-South Korea industrial cooperation. South Korean representatives introduced the investment environment in South Korea, the vision for regional development cooperation between both countries, and the overall situation of local cities such as Jeollanam-do and Daegu Metropolitan City. The Development and Reform Commission of Jilin Province and the China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone introduced the overall situation of opening-up in Jilin Province and the construction, key policies, and preferential and facilitation measures for South Korean enterprises of the demonstration zone, respectively. Industry associations and enterprise representatives from the automobile and cosmetic medicine industries of China and South Korea engaged in dialogues and discussions on the current status and future development of China-South Korea cooperation in relevant fields.

During the Meeting, enterprise representatives from both countries visited the China-ROK (Changchun) International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, where they participated in connection and exchange activities.
