There are 15 enterprises with a total investment of RMB3 billion that have settled in China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone. In the normalization of epidemic prevention and control, the Northern Pharmaceutical Park, located in the core area of China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone, has so far made a major breakthrough in investment attraction, which is now under connection with its counterparts from ROK as an effort to jointly promote international collaborative innovation and market expansion for medical devices. 

“Such breakthrough cannot be made possible without the opening and cooperation opportunities released by the demonstration zone,” said Cong Lifeng, Director of Investment Attraction of the Northern Pharmaceutical Park, adding, “The policy advantage and the international business environment accelerated the settlement of projects in the demonstration zone.”  

With such geographical advantages of being located in the regional center of Northeast Asia, connected with ROK, Japan and DPRK in the east, Russia and Mongolia in the west, and only 700 kilometers away from Seoul, ROK, China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone has already become a new highland in Changchun City for opening up and cooperation since it was founded. “Less than half a year after going operational, our company has made an output value of RMB30 million, with products sold well in international market,” said Yan Han, President of Jilin Zhongcheng Energy Technology Co., Ltd., while pointing at the product line at the Graphene Industrial Base inside the demonstration zone, adding, “We have been provided with favorable platforms and windows for connection and cooperation with the outside world especially with the enterprises engaged in electronics, automobiles, sensors and other fields. In the next few years, the annual output value of our company will probably go up to RMB500 million.” 

With national strategic opportunities for building a new development pattern firmly grasped, and active measures taken to get integrated into the “dual circulation”, China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone has continuously presented new spotlights for creating “international role model” platform for opening up and cooperation since it was founded. In accordance with the overall requirement of all-round, wide-ranging cooperation between the two sides, coordinated development will be promoted in such fields as politics, culture, science and technology, education, humanity between China and ROK to strive to establish a coordination mechanism. 

“We are under close contacts and communications with the competent authorities of ROK to reach a series of consensus on opening up and cooperation,” said the leader of the demonstration zone, adding, “Many of our ideas have been responded positively. At the 16th Conference for Ministers of Economy of China and ROK, many positive suggestions were put forward by ROK on promoting the construction of the demonstration zone.” 

Geographically connected, culturally integrated, sciences, technologies and talents commonly shared, it is the concept of innovation and development of the demonstration zone that has attracted a large number of open and cooperative projects to get settled one after another here in the demonstration zone. On September 3, the representatives of more than 40 business associations including Samsung, LG, Lotte, Asiana and Seagate as well as those of more than 50 domestic enterprises were invited to Day of Jilin Province of China International Fair for Trade in Services 2020 many of which expressed their interest in investment and cooperation and reached agreements on specific projects. It’s commonly agreed by the enterprises which have settled in the demonstration zone that China is the most influential market in the world. To get settled in the demonstration zone is equivalent to securing a foothold in Chinese market. Insiders say TMS from ROK has established a R&D team to cooperate with the demonstration zone to promote the industrialization of photoresist technology. 

To highlight urban function and cultural connotation, the demonstration zone is planning to build the Pavilion for China-ROK Cities, Wonderland of Begonia Flowers and other industry-city integration projects with the enterprises from ROK, striving to get the demonstration zone included into the framework of the FTA of China and ROK, establishing a coordination mechanism, and signing a memorandum of cooperation with ROK. With the deepening of opening up and cooperation, the demonstration zone is becoming more recognized as a role model of “international style” for international cooperation.
