The 18th Changchun Film Festival kicked off on August 28, attracting film industry workers from all over China to gather and celebrate together. Hu Yuting, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Governor of Jilin Province, attended the event and delivered a speech.

Changchun is considered the cradle of New China's film industry. The Changchun Film Festival has a glorious history of 31 years in this fertile land of film. Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, the Changchun Film Festival has been committed to deeply implementing General Secretary Xi Jinping's important proposals on film work, adhering to China's film development philosophy, embracing cultural self-confidence, showcasing the spirit of the times, and telling Chinese stories. With constant innovations, it has formed distinctive characteristics, accumulated valuable experience, achieved fruitful results, and further become an important platform for the flourishing of Chinese-language film and television creation, the spread of national culture, and the promotion of cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries, making significant contributions to the development of the cultural undertaking and industry and the sharing of cultural achievements among the people. This film festival takes "New Era, New Cradle, New Power, New Breakthrough" as its theme, pursuing the equal significance and parallel advance of professional appreciation and public preference, as well as the interoperability and mutual promotion between works creation and industry development, and intensively showcasing the new achievements made in Chinese-language film production in recent years. The festival features a variety of exciting film cultural activities and performances, and is expected to be a successful event. It is hoped that the film festival will serve as an opportunity for all parties to focus on the development of the film and television industry, promote high-quality creations, and release more outstanding films with substance, morality, and warmth, thus enhancing the influence and impact of Chinese and Jilin films and bringing more quality films to the global stage. It is also hoped that guests and friends from all walks of life will continue supporting the development of the Changchun Film Festival, using light and shadow as a bridge and culture as a bond to help the festival achieve new characteristics and reach new heights.

The opening ceremony was jointly launched by Hu Jinjun, Deputy Director of the China Media Group, Zhang Enhui, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Changchun Municipal Committee, Yang Andi, Deputy Governor of Jilin Province, and Wang Zilian, Mayor of Changchun City.
