Changchun has recently secured the 96th spot in the Top 100 Global Science and Technology Innovation Centers (2023) report, marking its first-ever entry into the ranking.

From the world's largest-caliber silicon carbide mirror and the largest echelle grating to the highest-pixel CMOS sensor and so on, Changchun Institute of Optics, Fine Mechanics and Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences (CIOMP), under the guidance of national major strategic demands, has boldly pushed boundaries in a range of key optical technologies. However, what's even more important is the successful transformation of these achievements. CIOMP has established the first Intellectual Property and Achievement Transformation Office within the Chinese Academy of Sciences system and introduced the Achievement Transformation Management Measures. Additionally, a dedicated Fine Instrument and Equipment R&D Center has been set up to handle achievement engineering and product pilot testing, making the Changguang Group responsible for enterprise strategic planning, capital operations, enterprise management, and platform services. Through active incubation by Changguang Group, a cluster of leading optical industrial enterprises, such as GeOptics Sequencing Equipment Co., Ltd., Gpixel, and CGene, have emerged. Currently, CIOMP has invested in 52 enterprises, with two listed enterprises and nine national specialized, refined, differential, and innovational "Little Giant" enterprises.
