Founded in 1910, Changchun Library is a time-honored institution that has lived through the Manchukuo period, the pre-liberation years, the post-liberation era, and the reform and opening-up period. It has witnessed over ninety years of development.
The new library, completed and put into use in 1992, is located in Changchun's cultural district (No. 1956 Tongzhi Street). The facility comprises a main building, a comprehensive service building, a 25,000-square-meter courtyard and green space. Its architectural style integrates modernity, national characteristics, and landscaping. It has become one of Changchun's key cultural landmarks with its unique architectural charm and cultural significance. The library features a spacious, diversified, and multifunctional service layout that integrates collection, lending, and reading. It fully utilizes Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology and self-service equipment to provide efficient and convenient services. Its functional areas include a literature lending library (zone), cultural exhibition halls, a self-service e-reading experience zone, a citizen digital learning center, and self-study areas. Special zones have been established for elderly readers, visually impaired readers, and young children, offering targeted services for different user groups.
