The 15th Jilin (Changchun) Winter Agricultural Expo is set to be held in Changchun Modern Agricultural Park from January 16 to February 4, 2025. With the theme of "brand, green, Spring Festival folk customs and culture", the Expo highlights digital agriculture and green agriculture, ice and snow tourism and Spring Festival customs culture, and strives to become a festive gathering for citizens to visit, relax and purchase, and a gathering for popularization of science that enables farmers to emulate the model of winter facility agriculture. Exhibition staff are making efforts to create a happy and green agricultural fair with a strong Spring Festival atmosphere, enriching the cultural life of citizens and farmers during the Spring Festival and creating an air of festivity on this great occasion.

 

I. Distinctive Features of Five Exhibition Areas

 

With a footprint of 200,000 square meters, this exhibition is provided with five exhibition areas, mainly including the planting exhibition area of the Changchun Modern Agricultural Park.

 

First, facility agriculture exhibition area. Soilless culture exhibition area, large-scale soilless culture exhibition area, substrate culture exhibition area, tropical fruit orchard, fresh-cut flower garden, desert botanical garden and other characteristic areas are arranged in the multi-span intelligent greenhouse covering an area of 60,000 square meters, where varieties of high-yield crops, advanced cultivation techniques and high-tech facilities and equipment will be exhibited in a centralized way, combining demonstration, appreciation and popularization into one. An agricultural intelligent monitoring center is established in a greenhouse for whole-process real-time monitoring of the dynamics of the park, to ensure connectivity between Internet of Things and Internet in the park. In two outdoor unheated greenhouses, the production of fruits and vegetables such as strawberries and morels without heating in winter in northern China is demonstrated, which is efficient, energy-saving and environmentally-friendly, serving as a model of modern agriculture there. The Fungus science and technology exhibition area, with an area of 3,000 square meters, is rated as the exhibition area with the highest content of science and technology of the Expo. During the event, eight varieties of edible fungi in three categories, including Ganoderma lucidum, Auricularia auricula and Auricularia delicata, are on display and sale. In addition, the whole process of extracting ganoderma lucidum spore powder from ganoderma lucidum fruiting body in an efficient and environmentally-friendly manner will be demonstrated. This offers visitors an opportunity to comprehend the exquisiteness and high efficiency of modern agricultural technology at "zero distance"

 

Second, sightseeing agriculture exhibition area. There are three modern greenhouses, including two theme exhibition halls: Beautiful China and Colorful Jilin, where on-site planting and distinctive landscape design are used in combination to showcase the glorious development course of China and Jilin Province. More than 300 species of characteristic plants are displayed in the Word Agriculture Garden, vividly exhibiting different agricultural customs and civilizations of five continents in the world.

 

Third, agricultural scientific and technological achievement transformation exhibition area. More than 1,300 items of scientific and technological achievements in agriculture are demonstrated in the Changchun Modern Agricultural Park, which serves as a national transfer center of scientific and technological achievements in agriculture and Changchun branch of the property right trading center for national scientific and technological achievements in seed industry, transferring scientific and technological achievements in agriculture with high quality.  

 

Fourth, fine animal exhibition area. This area includes a Rare Bird Farm and a Fishery Exhibition Hall. More than 500 economic animals in over 40 species with high economic value and ornamental value, such as peacocks and parrots, will be mainly on display on the Rare Bird Farm. All kinds of freshwater and mariculture fish, ornamental fish, jellyfish and interesting marine animals, which are popular, ornamental and practical, will be showcased in the Fishery Exhibition Hall.

 

Fifth, exhibition area for special purchases for the Spring Festival. A high-quality area for special purchases for the Spring Festival is arranged in the 60,000-square-meter greenhouse, where more than 1,000 kinds of high-grade green and high-quality agricultural products, festival supplies, goods imported from Russia and other special purchases for the Spring Festival are displayed and sold, catering to the shopping needs of the masses for the festival. In the exhibition center called "Best Items for Agricultural Expo", a series of more than 100 kinds of high-quality agricultural products and green boutique vegetables unique to the agricultural expo are on display and sale, among a variety of selected gift sets for group purchase. On the scene of the "Recreation and Gourmet Area", a diverse variety of delicacies are made and offered for visitors and Internet-famous food is available for visitors to taste on the spot. More than 100 kinds of flowers and plants such as Cymbidium hybridum, Phalaenopsis and pachira macrocarpa, as well as thousands of new varieties of flowers and green plants are introduced to and displayed in the "Lunar New Year Flower Exhibition Area", enriching the supply of flowers during the festival.

Through such organic combination of ice and snow culture and agricultural culture, a comprehensive agricultural exhibition brand with northern winter characteristics is built. Multiple popular science products and cultural and recreational products are designed for the Expo., At 10:30am-12:00am from January 16 to February 4, visitors can enjoy the performances for "Welcoming the Spring Festival" and "Celebrating the Spring Festival" put on by professional troupes and popular art groups in the stage area of the Fishery Exhibition Hall. At the same time on the day of the opening ceremony and the first day of the Lunar New Year, artists from the Folk Art Troupe of Jilin Province and the Shaman Sky Team will give exceptional performance for people in Changchun, dubbed as a Spring City in Northern China, making everyone free to wander in the traditional melodious of Chinese folk art forms and the burning passion of modern music. Interesting courses related to agriculture are designed, and study tours and family tours are organized in the park, which not only allows parents and children to experience the charm of modern agriculture, but also can initially build a knowledge system of agriculture for children. Many cultural activities, such as the exhibition of intangible cultural heritages and the exhibition of straw weaving handcrafts, are held in the 2,000-square-meter greenhouse exhibition hall at the south end of the exhibition area. You can experience the charm of 12 intangible arts including leather art, knife carving and sugar painting at any time during the exhibition, and you can also take a favorite cultural and creative product with you when you leave the exhibition. In the new "Ice and Snow Park" that covers an area of 22,000 square meters, 17 items including large snow slides and bumper cars on ice are provided, offering citizens an opportunity to experience entertainment in a world of ice and snow and regain the joys of childhood. Moreover, sports and fitness programs such as football, tennis and golf are arranged in Hall 1-5 for sports lovers. These programs will last until April after the end of the Expo.
