On November 23, the launch ceremony for the 2024-2025 New Snow Season & the 30th Jilin Rime Ice and Snow Festival were held at the Beidahu Ski Resort in Jilin City. Huang Qiang, Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, attended the event and announced the launch of the new snow season. Hu Yuting, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee and Governor of Jilin Province, delivered a speech, and Zhu Guoxian, Chairman of the CPPCC Jilin Provincial Committee, was in attendance.

 

Beidahu Ski Resort, the largest ski resort in Asia, is celebrated as a "paradise for skiers for its high-quality powder snow". During this snow season, the resort will operate 74 ski trails covering a total length of 80 kilometers, with pre-sales revenue already reaching RMB 170 million. Huang Qiang visited the resort to inspect its planning, construction, operations, and so on. He emphasized the importance of upholding the concept that "ice and snow are also invaluable assets", consolidating and expanding the achievements of "driving 300 million people to participate in the ice and snow sports", and leveraging Jilin's abundant ice and snow resources to host more international and domestic events. These efforts aim to promote the integration of sports, culture, and tourism while attracting more visitors and boosting consumption. He also called for actively seeking national support, enhancing collaboration with other provinces and cities, and promoting complementary advantages and win-win cooperation. He interacted warmly with domestic and international tourists and foreign coaching teams, encouraging them to promote Jilin and invite more friends and families to enjoy its ice and snow attractions. Additionally, he urged relevant departments to support key enterprises like Jilin Chemical Fiber in advancing carbon fiber technology innovation and application after learning about the province's progress in ice and snow equipment R&D and manufacturing in the ski equipment hall. He stressed the importance of carrying out R&D based on user needs and iterative upgrades based on feedback, so as to strengthen the development of the ice and snow equipment and sports industries. He reviewed real-time monitoring of the ski resort's safety operations and underscored the need for regular inspections of facilities such as cable cars and robust emergency response measures to ensure the safety of tourists.

 

In his speech, Hu Yuting highlighted Jilin's commitment to implementing the concept that ice and snow are also invaluable assets". Dedicated to establishing itself as a world-class ice and snow brand and tourist destination, this province is developing an industrial pattern that is driven by ice and snow sports and supported by ice and snow tourism, and promotes the coordinated development of ice and snow culture and equipment. This season, Jilin warmly welcomes visitors from home and abroad with its unique advantages of "powder snow, calm wind, rime, and hot springs" and the brand matrix of "Changbai Mountain, A Wonderland of Snow". Boasting a total length of ski slopes among the top in China, the highest number of aerial ropeways, and abundant resources like four cities listed among the top ten domestic destinations for ice and snow tourism and five national-level ski resorts, the most in the country, Jilin is embracing skiing enthusiasts with exceptional and warm-hearted services, ensuring they come with excitement and leave with satisfaction. He invited all parties to share Jilin's development opportunities and collaborate in building the province into the "first-choice destination" for ice and snow tourism and a "new highland" for the ice and snow economy.

 

During the event, Cao Lubao, member of the Standing Committee and Director of the Publicity Department of the CPC Jilin Provincial Committee, along with Sun Dongfeng, Party Secretary of China Post Jilin Branch, unveiled an ice and snow postage stamp themed by "Changbai Mountain, A Wonderland of Snow". Together with Olympic champions Wu Dajing, Li Jianrou, and Li Na, they sent out invitation letters. Wang Lei, Director and Party Secretary of the Winter Sports Management Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, delivered a speech.

 

The event featured live video connections with Changchun Tianding Mountain Ski Resort, Changbai Mountain Heping Ski Resort, Wanda Changbai Mountain International Resort, Wanfeng Tonghua Ski Resort, Jilin Vanke Songhua Lake Ski Resort, and Changchun The Hill Post Office, enabling real-time interaction across sub-venues. Subsequently, provincial leaders, government officials, corporate employees, students, and skiing enthusiasts participated in a mass ice and snow activity.

 

The event was chaired by Jin Yuhui, member of the Party Leadership Group of Jilin Provincial People's Government. Other attendees included provincial leaders Li Wei and Tian Jincheng, as well as officials from relevant provincial departments and cities such as Changchun, Jilin, Tonghua, Baishan, and the Changbai Mountain Protection and Development Zone.
