Just days ago, a JH6 tractor truck with automatic transmission slowly drove off of FAW South Africa's assembly line, signifying the completion of the company's 9000th whole vehicle, setting yet another milestone in FAW's overseas endeavors.

A ceremony was hosted for the momentous occasion. As one of the top 50 companies of the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality and a model enterprise of the Coega Special Economic Zone (SEZ), FAW South Africa received praises from guests at the event for contributing tremendously to local economic progress, employment and prosperity of the area.

In recent years, FAW South Africa has realized large-scale local production and rapid progress in the development of its sales and service network. The steady rise in production culminated in more than 1,700 vehicles sold in 2021, and the largest share in numerous niche markets such as those of the 3-ton, 8-ton and 5-ton trucks, while ranking 7th in the overall commercial vehicle market. FAW won the Silver Award in the 2021 National Automobile Dealers’ Association (NADA) Dealer Satisfaction Index (DSI) survey, becoming a world-class Chinese brand that stood toe to toe with the powerhouses of Europe and Japan.

The overseas achievements of FAW have been conducive to accelerating progress in the building of a Chinese national automobile brand. In 2022, FAW South Africa surpassed 200 whole vehicles in monthly production for four straight months, and successively eclipsed the marks of 8,000 units and 9,000 units in cumulative total vehicle produced and sold within the past five months. Emboldened by these triumphs, the company is now aiming to reach the historic feat of cumulative total production and sales of 10,000 vehicles within the year.
