After more than 1,000 days and nights of construction, the reconstruction and expansion of Jingha Expressway Changchun-Lalinhe Section (hereinafter referred to as Changyu Expressway) was completed and opened to traffic on September 26, 2020.

The optimization of capacity and quality of Changyu Expressway made the total length increased to 143.634km, the design speed to120 km/h, the subgrade width increased from 28m to 42m, the pavement width from 11.75m to 18.75m, the thickness of pavement structure from 60cm to 79cm, and four lanes to eight lanes. Once opened to traffic, it is able shorten the driving time from Changchun to Dehui by 30 minutes.

Changyu Expressway starts from Houcunjinpu of Changchun City, via Mishazi Town, Zhuchengzi Town, Dehui City, Caiyuanzi Town, Taolaizhao Town and Fuyu City to the provincial boundary Lalinhe of Jilin and Helongjiang. It is a major channel connecting the two provinces, serving together with Changping Expressway as a South-North corridor in the central part of Jilin Province. It is of great significance to promoting the spatial layout of regional industry, strengthening the construction of Harbin-Changchun city clusters, and developing interactively with the Jing-Jin-Ji region.

Reconstruction and expansion are different from a new project. To meet traffic demand, the construction party was said to have adopted the mode of half opened to traffic and half closed for construction, with a number of new technologies including prefabricated binding and positioning, intelligent curing, intelligent tension grouting, dynamic compaction of soft subgrade, full section paving, once-for-all full section asphalt paving for upper and lower layers without longitudinal hot joints yet with exceptional control of pavement flatness.
