The 20 millionth car GTE of FAW-VW rolled off the production line at the general assembly workshop of Changchun City on March 30, 2020. The staff representatives of FAW-VW witnessed the moment of milestone significance by means of video connection.  

Following the ceremony of FAW-VW’s 19999996th Q3 rolling off the production line at North China’s Tianjin Base, the 19999997th Bora at East China’s Qingdao Base, the 19999998th Q2L at South China’s Foshan Base and the 19999999th Jetta VS7 at Southwest China’s Chengdu Base, the vice general manager (technology) of FAW-VW drove the 20 millionth New Magoton GTE, an important model tailor-made for the era of new energy vehicles, out of the production line at the Changchun Base. 

“The 20 millionth is a milestone in the development history of FAW-VW. It is also a new starting point for our future,” said Liu Yigong, Board Director, Secretary of Party Committee and General Manager of FAW-VW, in his speech.  

It takes 23 years from 1991 when the company was founded to 2014 to complete the first 10 millionth, while the second one only takes five years and four month from December 2014 to late March of 2020. The five production bases of FAW-VW have so far established a complete, gigantic industrial chain cluster.  

The number of cars (including imported ones) sold in 2019 amounted to 2,129,900, up 3.8% year on year, making FW-VW the first in China with a yearly sales volume of 2.1 million. In 2020 when the sales declined to a great extent due to the impact caused by the epidemic, FAW-VW still topped the list with a market share of 11.1% in January and February.
