Incheon Invited to Exhibition Hall for China-ROK Cities, CCFAO Organizes Meeting Online to Promote Cooperation and Exchanges with Incheon

To serve the construction of China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone and implement the action plan for cooperation and exchanges between Changchun and Incheon, Changchun Foreign Affairs Office (CCFAO) organized an online meeting Thursday afternoon on February 25, 2021. Xue Chunzhi, Director General of CCFAO, and his counterpart of Incheon, attended the meeting.

On behalf of Changchun and Incheon, the leaders of the two sides indicated that close relations between the two sides should be strengthened so as to contribute more to the cooperation and exchanges between China and ROK, and especially the platform of China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone be fully used to promote cooperation among enterprises. The basic facts including economic development of the two cities were introduced at the meeting. The two sides discussed the action plan for cooperation and exchanges for 2021.

“China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone is a new engine for the revitalization and development of Jilin Province and even the region of Northeast China, a leading zone for regional economic cooperation in Northeast Asia, and a pilot zone for all-round, wide-ranging cooperation between China and ROK. The Exhibition Hall for China-ROK Cities covers a total area of 210,000 square meters and a total construction area of 135,000 square meters. It has 16 pavilions including one for Incheon for ROK’s cities. It is an exhibition and trading cluster for famous and high-quality products between China and ROK, a platform for demonstrating the cultural resources and sustainable technologies to the outside world, and also a carrier for global cultural experience and dealing of international commodities of Northeast Asian countries,” said Xue Chunzhi in his speech. Xue invited Incheon to join the exhibition hall with publicity materials and exhibits. Incheon expressed its willingness to do so and plan of entrusting Incheon Office in Weihai to visit Changchun.

The representative of Incheon reviewed the exchanges held by the two cities last year, and indicated that the two sides would continue to provide such platform for exchanges among enterprises to achieve win-win results, and mutual visits and exchanges should be carried in various fields between the two cities after the pandemic.

The two sides also exchanged views on upgrading the intent to formal friendly and cooperative cities, promoting the signing of an agreement on establishing friendly and cooperative relations between China (Changchun)-ROK International Cooperation Demonstration Zone and its counterpart in Incheon, participating in Incheon In-China Forum and Changchun-Incheon Online Photo Exhibition.

Incheon has been attaching great importance to cooperation and exchanges with China, and established friendly and cooperative relations with 15 provinces and cities in China. Changchun and Incheon signed the letter of intent for friendly and cooperative cities in 2010. Over the past years, the two cities have maintained close relations and carried out a number of economic and cultural cooperation and exchanges. Incheon, which is 28 kilometers away from Seoul, covers an area of 1,065 square kilometers and a population of 3.01 million people. It is the third largest city in ROK. As one of the central cities in Northeast Asia, Incheon has an advanced international airport and such developed industries as automobile and steel, and made great achievements in finance, culture, transportation, etc.
