Accompanied by the roar of a broad gauge engine, the train for intermodal transport from Hunchun-Makhalino Railway Port via Khasan Line of Fast East of Russia to Tumangang (Rajin) of DPRK arrived at Tumangang at 16:10 on June 29, 2020.

With 40-foot containers on board organized by Jilin Province Northeast Asia Maritime Silk Road International Shipping Co., Ltd., the train stared from Hunchun International Railway Station at 17:34 on June 26, and arrived at Kamyshovyy at 18:34 and then at Tumangang.

The strong support and guidance of the Moscow Headquarters of State Railway of Russia and the authority of railway of DPRK made the test run a success. It has initiated the approval of multi-national intermodal railway business of Chinese goods transported directly to DPRK via Khasan Line of Russia. The effort has shortened to the greatest extent the distance of cross-border transportation, which is therefore of far-reaching significance to improving transportation efficiency and reducing logistic cost.

Insiders say the test run itself has provided a technical guidance for the promotion and construction of such strategic development goals as Rail-Sea Transport for Hunchun (China)-Makhalino (Russia)- Rajin (DPRK)-Southern Ports of China and Intermodal Transport of Siberian Railway of Russia to European Countries. Empowering Hunchun-Makhalino has become an import node for China-Russia International No.2 Costal Transport Corridor and an important platform for the cooperation with DPRK and Europe.

For the next step, the company will further deepen and expand the market potential of the multi-national intermodal transport line, enrich its logistic categories and two-way deliveries, support the development of China-Russia Marine Refrigerated Transport, promote the development of Hunchun Marine Economic Cooperation Demonstration Zone, drive the regional industries to deepen and implement supply of channel carriers and thus do a good job in interconnection while strengthening the support for deepening and expanding the strategy of opening up to the outside world.
