New Book Launch, Collection Donation of Honorary Citizen Koshizawa Akira Held

The launch of new book Planning History Atlas of Changchun City from 1895 to1945 and collection donation ceremony of Changchun’s honorary citizen Koshizawa Akira, which was jointly sponsored by Changchun Municipal Bureau of Planning and Natural Resources, Changchun Foreign Affairs Office (CCFAO) and Jilin Publishing Group, were held at the Changchun Urban-Rural Planning Exhibition Hall Tuesday morning on December 17, 2019. Wang Shouxian, Deputy Secretary General of the People’s Government of Changchun City attended and addressed the ceremony.

 

The book launched at the ceremony is an important literature about the planning history of Changchun City from 1895 to 1945, which is of great significance to understanding the history and exploring the development of Changchun City from academic and professional perspectives.

 

At the ceremony, Koshizawa Akira donated more than 20 precious documents, who has so far donated more than 100 in recent years to such units as Changchun Urban-Rural Planning Exhibition Hall, Museum of Imperial Palace of Manchu State and Changchun Museum of Archives. As academic materials, such materials will contribute to the development and historical research of Changchun City.

 

Koshizawa Akira, who graduated from Tokyo University in 1976, is an honorary professor of Hokkaido University. He is a famous Japanese expert in landscaping and city planning, with remarkable achievements in the research on planning of modern times of Changchun City. In 2003, Koshizawa Akira was hired as a city planning consultant by the People’s Government of Changchun City. His books “Capital Planning of Manchu State” and “Planning History Atlas of Changchun City from 1895 to1945” were translated into Chinese by Ou Shuo, Deputy Director General of CCFAO, which is of great significance to the study of history and thoughts of planning of Changchun City. Over the past years, Koshizawa Akira has made an important contribution to the construction of Changchun City as well as the cooperation and exchanges with Japan. In 2014, he became an honorary citizen of Changchun City.

 

During his stay in Changchun City, Koshizawa Akira visited Changchun Library, Changchun Museum of Archives, Museum of Imperial Palace of Manchu State, Jingyue Lake and other places, and had talks with Curator Xie Qun of Changchun Library and Curator Zhang Mingyu of Changchun Museum of Achieves. Government officials including Deputy Director Generals Duan Huaxu and Ou Shuo of CCFAO met the delegation.
