China's first multi-adaptive medium-volume monorail system vehicle, developed by CRRC Changchun Railway Vehicles Co., Ltd., came off the assembly line in Chongqing on the morning of February 10.

It is known that the multi-adaptive medium-volume straddle-type monorail vehicle which came off the assembly line this time, has a strong climbing ability, small turning radius, strong environmental adaptability, and other characteristics, with the highest running speed of 80 km/h and a passenger capacity of 136 people. The vehicle can be flexibly grouped to adapt to the demands of different passenger flows. It has little impact on the environment around the line with light weight and low operating noise. The monorail transit system also appeared with the vehicle, which can provide a new solution for the construction of multiple-volume rail transit, and has the advantages of meeting the demands of different passenger flows, different application scenarios, and low comprehensive cost. The monorail transit system is the first case carried out in China.

Cutting-edge technologies such as carbon fiber composite materials, integration of traction and brake, train control system integration, and electromechanical brake are applied to fully realize the vehicle's lightweight; Energy-saving technologies such as permanent magnet traction and high-frequency auxiliary converter are applied to further improve the efficiency of energy use and build a green and energy-saving medium-volume rail transit system.

The vehicle adopts the highest level of automated-driving technology, which can realize the functions such as automatically waking up, automatically starting and stopping, and automatically returning to the depot. At the same time, the smart design of the vehicle can be compatible with the application of new technologies such as vehicle-to-vehicle communication, new energy supply, and multi-network system integration to realize smart travel, smart operation and maintenance, and smart service, and bring smarter travel experience for citizens.

As a multi-adaptive medium-volume monorail transit system, the vehicle can be flexibly grouped to meet the transport capacity demands of 5,000-20,000 people per hour. At the same time, the vehicle is also suitable for high temperatures, ultralow temperatures, plateaus and other special environments, which can meet the diversified application scenarios of tourist attractions and different types of cities.

The axle weight of the vehicle is only nine tons, which lays the foundation for the lightweight of the whole system of monorail transit. New products and processes such as large-span strain-free successive rail girder bridges, lightweight fabricated pier columns, and small integrated stations are developed simultaneously with the vehicle, and together with digital technologies such as smart operation and maintenance, constitute a multi-adaptive medium-volume monorail transit system with low cost over the life cycle.
