Symposium Held for Delegation of Architectural Survey Planning and Landscape Professionals from Hong Kong

 

The symposium organized by Changchun Foreign Affairs Office and Changchun Municipal Office of Hong Kong and Macau Affairs for the delegation of architectural survey planning and landscape professional leaders from Hong Kong was held Monday afternoon on January 6, 2019. The symposium, which was chaired by Duan Huaxu, Deputy Director of Changchun Foreign Affairs Office and Changchun Municipal Office of Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, was attended by the department leaders of development and reform, construction, planning, science and technology and real estate of Changchun City. 

The 21-member delegation, which was headed by Xie Weiquan, Member of the CPPCC National Committee, Member of the General Committee of China Association of Science and Technology and Member of the Legislative Council of HKSAR, and Lai Xuhui, Former President of the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors and Chairman of the Mainland Affairs Committee, visited the Planning Exhibition Hall of Changchun City before the symposium. The delegation listened with care to the introduction and watched the film about the past, the present and the future of planning of Changchun City from which all members had a certain understanding of the city’s development history, industrial advantages and planning characteristics. 

The representatives of competent departments of Changchun City shared with the delegation the information concerning the balance between urban construction and protection of historical and cultural relics, the organic combination of the protection of historical and cultural relics and the overall planning of the city, the impact of the construction of Northeast China’s high-speed railway network on the development of Changchun-Harbin City Cluster, the organic combination of innovation in technologies and development of industries, architectural design, property management, etc. The experts from Hong Kong highlighted the introduction in their presentations about Hong Kong’s architectural design, project management and old-age care model. The two sides also exchanged pragmatic ideas about the issues the both sides were concerned about at the symposium which ended up with an achievement made as expected in an active atmosphere. 

Most members of the delegation are influential in their working fields, and the representatives of Changchun City are managerial professionals and experts. Insiders say the symposium is of positive significance to reinforcing exchanges and cooperation between Changchun and Hong Kong and deepening the understanding of Hong Kong’s industry about the Mainland.
