Director General Qi Guohua Attends 3rd China-Africa Local Cooperation Forum Held in Beijing

The 3rd China-Africa Local Cooperation Forum, which was sponsored by Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, was opened lately in Beijing. Among the distinguished guests invited to the opening ceremony included Wang Qishan, Vice President of China, Abdul‘ahat Abdulrixit, Vice President of the 11th Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and President of Chinese-African People’s Friendship Association, M. Brigi Rafini, Premier Minister of Niger, and Salim Ahmed Salim, Former Premier and President of Tanzania-China Friendship Association. The opening ceremony was presided over by Li Xiaolin, President of Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. Some 400 people including leaders of 26 domestic provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, ministers, governors and mayors in charge of local government affairs from 24 African countries, representatives of international organizations, envoys of African countries in China, and the representatives of such fields as education, economy, nonprofit and charitable organizations and media institutions. Qi Guohua, on behalf of Changchun City, attended the forum.

“China and Africa have long been known as real friends who help each other in hardships and difficulties. China is willing to support the development of African while achieving self-development. Under the China-African Cooperation Forum, the local governments of the two sides focus on poverty elimination and sustainable development and carry out cooperation and exchanges, which in turn will promote the comprehensive strategic cooperation partnership between China and Africa to set foot on earth,” said Wang Qishan in his opening speech.

The participants had talks on how to promote China-Africa pragmatic cooperation and create a community of shared future in two big fields of talent cultivation and productivity cooperation. The Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries advocated that the Union for Vocational Education of China-Africa Local Governments should be founded under the mechanism of China-Africa Local Cooperation Forum, which was widely recognized and actively responded by all participants. Changchun joined the union as well. CCFAO will make use of this platform to promote vocational resources of Changchun City to go out and further expand African friendship city resources.

During the forum, Qi Guohua discussed with the leaders of Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries, local government leaders of African countries and representatives of envoys of African countries in China on carrying out pragmatic cooperation in all fields with Africa.

The forum, initiated by Chinese Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries in 2012, has played an active role in promoting China-Africa local cooperation and exchanges, and driving the joint effort of China and Africa in Belt and Road Initiative. It has become a mechanism sub-forum under the framework of China-Africa Cooperation Forum. The success of this year’s forum has further deepened China-Africa pragmatic cooperation and created a good atmosphere for China-Africa Cooperation Forum to be held in Beijing in September this year.
