Delegation of Warrnambool Visits Changchun to Promote Cooperation between the Two Cities


Liu Changlong, Mayor of Changchun City, met the 15-member delegation led by Cr. Kylie Gaston, Mayor of Warrnambool, an international friendship city of Changchun in Australia, Tuesday afternoon on September 12, 2017. This is another trip for Mayor Cr. Kylie Gaston after she came in late June this year.

During the meeting, Mayor Liu Changlong extended his welcome to the delegation including such members as councilors, government officials, senior executives of universities and representatives of industrial and commercial circles. “Australia boasts of rich resources, social stability and friendly citizens. Warrnambool has mature public services, developed economy and a peaceful environment for residence and business. Since 2013 when Warrnambool and Changchun became friendship cities, the two sides have carried out extensive cooperation and exchanges in such fields as culture, education, sport, science, animal husbandry, health, tourism, media, economy and trade,” Liu Changlong said, “Changchun will put more efforts into implementing the Three-party Agreement signed by the People’s Government of Changchun City, the Government of Warrnambool and Deakin University to ensure that more can be achieved in exchange of students, cooperation among research institutes and transformation of scientific findings to explore more space for cooperation, promote more exchanges between two cities and thus speed up the pace for the construction of making Changchun a central city in the region of Northeast Asia.” Among the guests invited to the meeting also included Zhang Jing’an, Zhao Xian and other officials of competent government departments of Changchun City.
