Changchun, February 16 (China News Service)—The week-long China-Russia New Year Carnival concluded successfully in Yanji, Capital City of Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture of Jilin Province, on February 5, 2017. More than 7,000 tourists from Russia tasted delicious food, appreciated folk customs and watched art shows in Yanji to farewell to the old and usher in the new during the carnival.
Yanbian Prefecture is adjacent to the Far East of Russia. The cross-border tourism between the two sides has become more popular with the opening of self-drive, air and sea routes in recent years.
The sponsor, the People’s Government of Yanji City, provided typical Chinese Korean cuisines and art shows representing one of the national cultures of China for the guests during the carnival.
It is also during the event that the Yanji International Ice and Snow Festival was opened at the People’s Park of Yanji City. In addition to ice and snow games, folk customs and border factors, the organizer also opened a section for ice and snow sightseeing.
“I ever spent five New Year eves in Hunchun City. Every time I come to China I will see new changes giving me new feelings. This time is another unforgettable experience for me,” a Russian tourist was quoted as saying.
