China’s First Shamanism Culture Teaching and Research Institution Founded

Officially approved by China Society for the Study of Folk Literature and Art, China Shamanism Culture and Art Committee Teaching and Research Center, the first shamanism teaching and research institution in China, was founded at the College of Humanities of Northeast Normal University on January 25, 2010.

According to Professor Wang Yufeng, Director of the Teaching and Research Center, the institution has 15 staff members serving at two subcommittees, namely, sculpture committee and painting committee. As a higher learning institution, Northeast Normal University has obvious talent and knowledge-intensive advantages. The Chinese shamanism culture can be publicized and spread in such forms as academic exchanges and seminars and so on. In addition, related works and three-dimensional artistic sculptures made in the form of visual arts are also of great significance to understanding and spreading the shamanism culture and art.
