Environmental Protection

 

Changchun sticks to the strategy of continuous development and implements "Blue Sky, Clear Water and GreenLand" project. The ability of anti industrial pollution has been strengthened. The processing of rates of industrial waste gas, waste water and solid wastes reached 93%, 90.3% and 97.0% respectively. By the end of 2004, a total area of 208.3 square kilometers of dust and smog control, and the standard noise control area of 112.2 square kilometers have been built.

 

New progress has been made in ecological model area construction. Three national level ecological model areas, such as Jingyuetan Tourist Economic Development Zone, and provincial level ecological model area of

YushuCity have been built. The municipal environmental quality has been further improved. Pollutant rate in the air has been better than the year before. 100% of drinking waters are of and above the national standard, and the city's surface water quality has been 100% up to the national standard.

 

Virescence

 

Changchun's virescence level is going up. At the end of 2004, the whole city has a gardening green area of 6,455.8 hectares, a public green area of 1,873.8 hectares, and the afforestation coverage has reached 7,516 hectares, the virescent area covers 38.7% of the whole city.

 

City Communication

 

At the end of the year 2004, around the whole city, the total built-road area is 22,305,000 square meters and the area of the total built roads reached 1,156.3 kiliometers, with a total buses and cars 3,059.

 

Public Transportation

 

By the end of 2004, a total of 3,648 public transport vehicles, including mini buses are registered in the City of

Changchun. The operation route measured 1,164 meters in length with the annual transported passengers up to 547.5 million people. The public transportation employee reached 9,304 people.

 

In 2004, the city owns 16,303 taxis with taxi drivers reaching to a high of 21,815.

 

Energy

 

Public causes are developing on all aspects, and the comprehensive service function of

Changchun is evidently improved. In 2004, Changchun's water supply factories produced 1.03 million cubic meters, and the population using piped water in the lay-out reached 2.427 million people, the gas and natural gas supply reached 104.27 million and 155.48 million cubic meters, the total supply of liquefied petroleum gas reached 60,370 tons.
